What is Point Spread?

Point Spread betting is a type of wager where the bookmaker sets a margin of victory that the favorite must win by for a bet to succeed. It balances the odds between stronger and weaker teams.

Example

If the Lakers are -6.5 favorites against the Bulls, they must win by 7 or more points for your bet to win. If they win by 6 or fewer, or lose the game, the bet loses.

How it works?

1. The favorite receives a negative spread (e.g. -6.5), and the underdog a positive spread (e.g. +6.5). 2. Add the spread to the underdog's score or subtract from the favorite’s. 3. If the adjusted score favors your pick, you win the bet. 4. Often used in NBA and NCAA games to even out matchups.
